Brussels, October 31, 2019 – SPIE Belgium, a subsidiary of SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, is the developer behind LISA, a system designed over 25 years ago to automate and optimise the loading of delivery trucks by drivers. Benefits include significant time savings for customers’ logistics processes and a quick return on investment within just a few years. Just recently, in July 2019, SPIE was awarded a new LISA contract in the chemical sector.
Developed by SPIE Belgium in 1993, LISA (standing for Logistic Information & Systems Automation) is a unique logistics automation process currently in use at around 20 sites, including 11 abroad, in the chemical, petrochemical and fertiliser industries.
Based on a network of multilingual touch-screen terminals, LISA automates and speeds up the vehicle loading process with an intuitive and easy-to-use interface. Using a badge system, the process enables drivers to rapidly measure the difference in weight between an empty and loaded vehicle on a weighbridge.
The concept is custom-designed to meet the specific needs of each customer. LISA has many benefits. The first is the substantial amount of time saved in the customer’s supply chain and for the driver, allowing the latter to even load at night or during non-peak hours. With the time saved, investments by businesses operating in the petrochemical industry and other production companies seeking to optimise their logistics are recouped in just a few years thanks to the logistical efficiency of the truck loading process, the savings on logistics personnel and the reduced risk of error. The system also has unlimited possibilities in terms of reporting (loading time, truck location, driver registration, weighing when empty, weighing when loaded, etc.).

We manage the full implementation process, i.e. the preliminary study, the development of detailed scenarios (arrival and parking of trucks, driver registration, badge distribution, weighing when empty, loading, weighing, collection of delivery documentation, factory exit and communication with the factory’s ERP), the creation and configuration of the software, the test phases and installation.”
