GREEN DEAL ACHATS CIRCULAIRES

SPIE commits to the social, cooperative and solidarity economy by signing the "Green Deal Achats Circulaires" in Belgium

Brussels, 28 November 2019 – SPIE Belgium, a subsidiary of SPIE, the independent European leader in multi-technical services in the areas of energy and communications, signed the “Green Deal Achats Circulaires” in the presence of Willy Borsus, Vice-President of Wallonia and Minister for the Economy on 27 November 2019.

This joint initiative is the result of several organisations already involved in the circular economy: the Walloon Public Service, the Belgian platform for sustainable development "The Shift", the Société Régionale d'Investissement de Wallonie, Sowalfin, UCM and the Union Wallonne des Entreprises. Its objective: to promote the circular economy on a Walloon scale, through the purchasing policies of public and private organisations.

By signing this Green Deal on Circular Procurement, SPIE Belgium is promising to take specific action and thereby contribute towards accelerating Wallonia’s transition to a circular economy, where the value of goods, materials and resources is kept in the economy for as long as possible and waste generation is reduced to a minimum.

SPIE Belgium has therefore decided to review its procurement policy in two important areas. The first concerns office supplies (pens, notebooks, paper) which will come from the circular economy. Secondly, the Belgian subsidiary also undertakes to reduce the CO 2 emissions of its fleet of vehicles and thereby make them greener.

These two specific projects, which are under development in the SPIE Purchasing department, are perfectly in line with the social responsibility objectives of the SPIE Group”, explains David Grégoire, Purchasing Manager Direct Cost. “SPIE is committed to social and environmental matters and therefore conducts a specific sustainable development policy.
